Apple has launched the iPhone 18 Pro 5G series in India, addressing a key complaint from some fans: the absence of a black colour option in the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. The new series offers four choices – Black, Burgundy, Glacier, and Silver – providing a wider range of aesthetic preferences.
Addressing Past Concerns
The return of black is particularly notable, as Apple skipped the colour for the iPhone 17 Pro, following its inclusion in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro. This omission disappointed some customers, and the iPhone 18 Pro aims to rectify that.
Colour Options and Pricing
While the Burgundy colour is anticipated to be popular, the reintroduction of the black variant is seen as a significant improvement by many. The Silver option remains available as a standard choice for those undecided on a specific colour. The iPhone 18 Pro, with a base storage of 256GB, starts at Rs 1,64,900. The same colour variants are also available for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Availability and Purchase Options
Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are currently available for pre-order in India. Starting tomorrow, the devices will also be available through Zepto, a quick-commerce platform, offering home delivery within minutes. For customers looking to trade in an older device, visiting an official Apple retail store is recommended. Apple has been expanding its retail presence in India, with the first store in Mumbai inaugurated by Tim Cook.
Under the Hood
The iPhone 18 Pro is powered by the A20 Pro chip and features a large battery. The iPhone 18 Pro Max boasts the largest battery ever included in an iPhone. Apple notes that pricing across the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 17, iPhone 16, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17e models has increased, which they attribute to ongoing memory shortages.
Alongside the Pro models, Apple also launched the iPhone Duo, available in White and Black colour options.
