Galaxy S26 Gains New AI Features with One UI 9

Samsung has begun releasing One UI 9, its latest software update based on Android 17, to the new Galaxy S26 lineup. While currently limited in geographic availability, the update brings a suite of new features powered by Galaxy AI, alongside general performance improvements.

Initial Rollout and Availability

The One UI 9 rollout is reportedly underway in the UK and South Korea, according to Samsung’s announcement. Users in India and other markets can expect to receive the update soon, though a specific timeline has not been provided.

Key New Features in One UI 9

One UI 9 introduces several significant enhancements, with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence. Here are five of the most notable additions:

  • My FanCam: Part of the Galaxy AI suite, My FanCam allows users to track a person or object within recorded footage and provides editing capabilities, including automatic video editing with Mic Moment features.
  • Upgraded Now Brief: The Now Brief feature has been enhanced with a generative AI interface, allowing users to create and customise cards. It can also integrate into daily routines, displaying information such as weather, schedules, reminders, and wellness updates.
  • Creative Studio: This new tool provides users with an image-generation capability, enabling them to create visuals directly from their ideas.
  • Advanced Scam Detection: Samsung has expanded its AI-powered scam detection feature, now available in more countries, to help protect Galaxy S26 users from potential fraudulent calls.
  • Improved Voice Recording: The Voice Recorder app now offers clearer and more structured summaries of recordings, with the ability to generate headings and tables.

Performance and Efficiency Gains

Beyond the new features, One UI 9 also focuses on optimising the user experience. Samsung says the update will deliver faster app launches and improved battery efficiency across the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra models.
