Vivo V80 5G India Launch Imminent, Design Echoes iPhone

Vivo is officially signalling its intent to bring the V80 5G to the Indian market, following its initial release internationally. The company has released a teaser video showcasing the device, and observers have noted a strong resemblance to the iPhone 17 Pro Max, particularly in an orange colour option.

Design and Positioning

The teaser confirms at least one colour variant – orange – which Vivo highlights as offering a “cinematic upgrade” for users’ content creation. Vivo has traditionally positioned its V series as premium devices focused on camera capabilities and performance, and the V80 5G is expected to continue this trend. This launch follows Vivo’s decision to release the Vivo S2 5G in India instead of a V series phone, suggesting a renewed focus on the V line.

Expected Specifications

While a firm launch date remains unconfirmed, speculation is building around the V80 5G’s potential specifications. According to rumours, the device could feature:

  • A substantial 7200mAh battery
  • OriginOS 7, built on Android 17
  • A 50MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom

Pricing and Predecessor

The Vivo V80 5G will succeed the Vivo V70 5G, which launched in India at Rs 49,999. Rising costs for RAM and memory components are expected to push the V80 5G’s price point upwards, with estimates suggesting a minimum increase of Rs 10,000. Vivo continues its collaboration with ZEISS to refine camera technology in its devices.

It remains unclear whether the V80 5G will be part of a broader series launch in India, and further details are awaited.
