Oppo is integrating artificial intelligence directly into the user experience with the ColorOS 17 update, initially rolling out to the Find X10 series launched in China on September 24, 2026. The company’s approach moves beyond chatbot-style AI, focusing instead on embedding AI capabilities into everyday tasks to improve user productivity.
On-Device AI Processing
A key component of ColorOS 17 is the implementation of an on-device Large Language Model (LLM). This allows the Oppo Find X10 to process certain AI requests locally, without relying on cloud-based servers. According to Oppo, this on-device LLM reduces memory consumption by 48% and power consumption by 55%.
AI-Powered Features
The ColorOS 17 update introduces a range of AI-driven features, including:
- Xiaobou AI Assistant: Oppo’s AI assistant has been upgraded with the on-device LLM, resulting in improved understanding and more efficient cloud-device collaboration.
- AI Imaging Features: The Find X10’s camera, featuring a flagship 200MP sensor (and a Hasselblad-partnered 50MP triple-camera system on the Find X10e), benefits from AI-powered photo editing tools. These tools allow users to adjust lighting, tone, and colour, with the AI leveraging DaVinci’s database to achieve professional-looking results. The Danxi Colour Restoration Lens (2nd generation) uses the LUMO colour palette to restore skin tones and environmental scenes.
- AI Video Creation: The Find X10 5G is the first Android phone to implement “Open Gate,” which utilizes the sensor’s native aspect ratio for direct capture, providing greater cropping flexibility during editing. AI composition features also use the LUMO Colour palette to enhance people and scenery.
- AI One Tap Flash Note: This feature provides a single-tap shortcut to access important information, such as delivery codes or concert details, eliminating the need for manual note-taking. It also supports multitasking for meetings, note-taking, and work.
- AI-Powered Travel Management: ColorOS 17’s AI can automatically generate travel itineraries, including images and text, and assist with tasks like booking tickets, checking in for flights, and renting cars.
Oppo’s Memory Symbiosis Engines also play a role, learning user behaviour to anticipate needs and present relevant information. While currently available for the Oppo Find X10 series, Oppo plans to expand the ColorOS 17 AI features to other devices in the future.
