Flipkart Ventures, the investment arm of Flipkart, has added two Indian startups – Alive and Keploy – to its growing list of portfolio companies. The September 28 announcement signals continued investment in early-stage technology firms, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence.
Expanding the AI Footprint
While the specific funding amounts were not disclosed, both Alive and Keploy will benefit from capital support, mentorship, and access to Flipkart’s extensive ecosystem. This includes guidance from Flipkart’s leadership and engineering teams across business, product development, technology, and finance, as well as potential integration opportunities with Flipkart’s existing platforms.
What Do These Startups Do?
Alive, based in Bengaluru, leverages AI to curate and deliver lifestyle experiences across India. The platform currently boasts over 500 experiences available in cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Goa, according to Flipkart.
Keploy, on the other hand, focuses on improving software development through AI. Its open-source platform uses AI to convert application traffic into replayable regression tests and digital twin sandboxes. This allows developers to recreate production environments locally and within CI/CD pipelines, aiding in continuous verification.
Addressing Challenges in Modern Development
Keploy’s technology is particularly relevant given the increasing use of AI-generated code. Flipkart highlights that the platform helps engineering teams identify and resolve bugs and regressions earlier in the development cycle, including those stemming from AI-written code.
With these latest investments, Flipkart Ventures now has holdings in over 20 early-stage startups spanning AI, consumer internet, fintech, e-commerce, and logistics technology. The company notes that these investments demonstrate the broadening applications of AI beyond traditional uses like chatbots, extending into areas like lifestyle services and enterprise technology.
