While attention has been focused on the recent launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple has quietly increased the price of its iPhone Air by a substantial 41% in India. The price adjustments come following the release of the iPhone 18 Pro models, which also prompted price hikes for the iPhone 17 and iPhone 16.
The iPhone Air, initially positioned as a premium device focused on slim design and powerful performance, debuted in India with the following launch prices:
- 256GB: Rs 1,19,900
- 512GB: Rs 1,39,900
- 1TB: Rs 1,59,900
The 41% increase now positions the iPhone Air at:
- 256GB: Rs 1,49,900
- 512GB: Rs 1,74,900
- 1TB: Rs 2,24,900
According to reports, the price hike is attributed to rising global component costs, particularly the increased expense of memory acquisition for manufacturers. At its new price point of Rs 1,49,900, the iPhone Air may struggle to attract buyers, especially when compared to the iPhone 18 Pro, which starts at Rs 1,64,900. Some speculate that this price shift may be intentional on Apple’s part.
The iPhone Air is powered by the A19 Pro chip, though it is less powerful than the A20 Pro found in the iPhone 18 Pro. There has been no official announcement or teasing regarding a potential iPhone Air 2, but online reports suggest a possible launch alongside the standard iPhone 18 in early 2027.
Apple is currently accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro models.
