Reliance Jio has launched JioShield, a family safety and connectivity service aimed at keeping families in touch and providing peace of mind. The service, available for an upfront fee of Rs 1,000 for one year, offers features including location tracking, SOS alerts, and parental controls for children’s devices.
Key Features of JioShield
- Location & SOS Alerts: JioShield allows families to track the location of loved ones and receive alerts when a phone’s battery is low, as well as SOS notifications when help is needed.
- Parental Controls: Parents can manage screen time, app access, and contacts on their children’s Android smartphones.
- App Compatibility: The service requires the JioShield app to be installed on the child’s phone, which must run Android 10 or above.
- Parent App: Parents use the JioThings app to manage the service and receive alerts.
Jio is currently offering JioShield with a bundle of benefits as part of its 10th anniversary promotion, available to eligible customers since September 26, 2026. This offer includes ten recharge vouchers, each worth Rs 100, redeemable against Jio mobility recharges of Rs 399 and above on unlimited 5G plans. Jio describes this as effectively making the JioShield subscription free, as the voucher value matches the upfront enrolment cost.
In addition to the recharge vouchers, the anniversary offer also includes 12 months of Canva Pro, valued at Rs 4,000, and a 28-day unlimited 5G upgrade. To enrol, both the parent and child must have active Jio mobile numbers. JioThings, the parent app, is currently available for Android, with an iOS version planned for release on October 1, 2026.
The service is designed to help parents stay informed about their children’s wellbeing while allowing them the freedom to explore and stay connected, according to Reliance Jio.
