Poco has introduced the M8X 5G, a new smartphone focused on delivering a compelling feature set for users in India with a budget of Rs 25,000. The device centres around a substantial 7,900mAh battery, paired with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, and is positioned as a strong contender in a competitive market.
Power and Performance
The Poco M8X 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, a 4nm chipset launched on May 6, 2026. This chipset features an 8-core architecture comprised of 2 Cortex-A78 performance cores and 6 Cortex-A55 cores, aiming for a balance of power and efficiency. According to benchmark tests, the chipset achieves a score of 624021 on AnTuTu 11, with 976 points in single-core and 2250 points in multi-core performance on Geekbench 6.
Display and Audio Features
The M8X 5G features a large 6.9-inch IPS LCD display. While not FHD+, Poco highlights the display’s TÜV Rheinland Triple Eye certification, ensuring a flicker-free, circadian-friendly, and low-blue-light experience. Audio is handled by dual stereo speakers with Hi-Res support and a volume boost feature.
Software and Updates
The phone ships with Android 16, overlaid with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3. Poco is promising a significant software support commitment, guaranteeing 4 years of Android OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates. HyperOS 3 also introduces the Hyper Island feature, inspired by Apple’s Dynamic Island, offering real-time notifications and integration with Gemini. An integrated AI assistant provides features like Circle to Search, AI Eraser, and AI Night Mode.
