Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are vying for the attention of budget-conscious mobile users in India with prepaid plans priced below Rs 200. Both telecom operators focus on providing service validity alongside essential call and messaging benefits.
Jio’s Rs 189 Plan
Reliance Jio’s entry-level offering is priced at Rs 189 and provides 2GB of data, alongside unlimited voice calling and 300 SMS messages. According to details reported by TelecomTalk, the plan’s service validity extends for 28 days. After the 2GB of data is consumed, data speeds are reduced to 64 Kbps. The plan also bundles access to JioTV and JioAICloud as add-on benefits, making it suitable for users prioritizing nationwide 4G connectivity.
Vi’s Rs 179 Plan
Vodafone Idea’s Rs 179 prepaid plan offers unlimited voice calls, 300 SMS messages, and 1GB of data. TelecomTalk reports that this plan has a slightly shorter service validity period of 24 days. Unlike Jio’s plan, Vi includes an OTT benefit – access to Vi Movies & TV on both mobile devices and Smart TVs – as its primary add-on.
Both plans are designed for users who primarily need basic connectivity and service validity, rather than large data allowances or extensive bundled services.
