The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are now available to consumers, generating excitement among tech fans. While attention has focused on features like the variable aperture camera, improved battery life, and the new Burgundy colour option, a fundamental change to the phones’ internal design is largely going unnoticed.
A New Internal Layout
Apple has redesigned the internal architecture of the iPhone 18 Pro, altering how components are arranged within the device’s body. This wasn’t simply about adding new parts; it was about making the design more efficient. This efficiency gain is the key to several improvements, including the ability to incorporate a larger vapor chamber cooling system.
The benefits of this redesign are particularly noticeable during demanding tasks like 4K video recording. Previously, iPhones could overheat during extended 4K shooting. The larger vapor chamber, made possible by the internal restructuring, allows the iPhone 18 Pro to sustain peak performance for longer periods.
Specifically, Apple shifted the DRAM memory chip away from its traditional location stacked directly on top of the processor. This change freed up space and contributed to the overall efficiency of the internal layout, according to the report.
The enhanced internal architecture also contributes to more efficient battery function, further improving the overall user experience.
