OnePlus has begun releasing official teasers for the OnePlus 16, its next major smartphone offering, initially confirmed for launch in China. The device has also received 3C certification, signalling its imminent arrival.
Display and Software Firsts
A key highlight of the OnePlus 16 will be its display, which is confirmed to support a refresh rate of 165Hz. This marks a significant upgrade for OnePlus users. Furthermore, the OnePlus 16 will be the first phone from the company to ship with ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, out of the box.
Expected Specifications
While OnePlus has not yet revealed a firm launch date, the device is rumoured to debut in China around October. It is expected to be a substantial upgrade over its predecessor, the OnePlus 15, and is anticipated to be the most powerful OnePlus phone to date.
According to current reports, the OnePlus 16 is likely to feature:
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro
- Display: 6.78-inch custom BOE oriental screen 4.0
- Battery: A large 9000mAh battery (compared to the OnePlus 15’s 7300mAh battery)
- Rear Camera System: A triple-camera setup including:
- Primary: 200MP sensor
- Ultra-Wide: 50MP sensor
- Telephoto: 50MP periscope sensor
Regional Availability
Despite the launch in China, OnePlus is not expected to release the OnePlus 16 in India. Instead, the company will likely launch the OnePlus 16R as its next flagship device in that market. More teasers aimed at the Chinese market are expected in the coming days, according to TelecomTalk.
The OnePlus 16 is expected to carry a higher price tag than the OnePlus 15.
