OnePlus has begun releasing details about its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16 5G, following the release of the OnePlus 15 in India. While the design is expected to remain similar to its predecessor, the OnePlus 16 5G promises substantial internal improvements.
Power and Performance
At the heart of the OnePlus 16 5G will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. This chipset enables the phone to achieve an AnTuTu score exceeding 5 million points, positioning it among the most powerful devices on the market, according to the company.
Camera Capabilities
OnePlus is set to debut a 200MP sensor in the OnePlus 16, signalling a focus on camera performance alongside raw processing power. This will be the first time OnePlus has included a sensor of this resolution in its phones.
Display Enhancements
The OnePlus 16 5G will feature a display with a remarkably thin 1.15mm bezel. The display will support a variable refresh rate, offering a standard 165Hz and boosting up to 185Hz for compatible gaming titles.
Battery Life
A substantial 9000mAh battery will power the OnePlus 16 5G. While not the largest capacity available, OnePlus believes this, combined with fast-charging capabilities, will significantly improve user experience.
Software Experience
The OnePlus 16 5G will launch with ColorOS 17, built on Android 17. This makes the OnePlus 16 5G the first device to ship with the latest Android version.
Notably, OnePlus has indicated that the OnePlus 16 5G is unlikely to be released in India.
