Samsung is set to revamp its Galaxy S lineup with the 2027 series, introducing a new Galaxy S27 Pro model and substantial improvements to key components. While an official launch date hasn’t been confirmed, the Galaxy S27 series is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2027.
Return of the ‘Pro’ Designation
In a departure from recent strategy, Samsung plans to discontinue its Edge series and reintroduce a ‘Pro’ designation with the Galaxy S27 Pro. This model, alongside the Galaxy S27 Ultra, will represent the top end of the 2027 lineup, while the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ will be positioned as more accessible options.
Performance and Memory Upgrades
The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are expected to receive the latest LPDDR6 RAM, paired with UFS 5.1 storage for faster data access. However, the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ will retain the LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage found in previous generations.
Power and Display Enhancements
Samsung is addressing concerns about battery life with increased capacities in the Pro and Ultra models. The Galaxy S27 Pro will feature a 5,200mAh battery, while the Galaxy S27 Ultra will boast a 5,700mAh battery. Both models will also support 60W wired charging. All four Galaxy S27 models—the S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra—will incorporate new M16 OLED displays. These panels utilize Colour-Filter On-Encapsulation (COE) technology for improved colour output and are more energy efficient, supporting LTPO refresh rates. A ‘Privacy Display’ feature, similar to that found on some Xiaomi and TCL phones, is also speculated to be included across the entire S27 range.
Chipset Variations
The Galaxy S27 series will be powered by the next-generation Exynos 2700 chipset, built on a 2nm process. However, availability will vary by region. According to reports, Exynos 2700-powered Galaxy S27 phones will be available in markets including India. In the U.S.A., Samsung will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 for Galaxy processor instead.
