Lenovo At CES 2015

Lenovo’s latest smartphones focus on two themes: power and youth. Its new Vibe X2 Pro aims to appeal to trendsetters while its P90 smartphone is meant for those always on their mobile devices. The Chinese manufacturer announced both at the 2015 International CES in Las Vegas Monday.


While Lenovo has not yet broken into the U.S. market with its smartphones, the Chinese manufacturer is the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer following its acquisition of Motorola Mobility.

The Vibe X2 Pro includes a 5.3-inch full HD display, the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip and dual 13-megapixels cameras, similar to HTC’s Desire Eye, which introduced high-power lenses for both the rear and front cameras in October. The front includes modes such as selfie flash, selfie beautification and gesture shutter controls. The Vibe X2 Pro will sell for $399 in select markets.

The Vibe X2 Pro comes with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and Lenovo’s Vibe UI 2.0 overlay, which features a personalized lock screen, instant-on camera and transparent icons. Externally, the smartphone features a full metal back, which is available in a number of vibrant and trendy colors. “It draws heavily on the individuality of style in today’s younger generations,” said Craig Bond, Lenovo’s head of worldwide product communications.

The Lenovo P90 introduces the 64-bit Atom 1.8GHz quad-core processor to the market, which supports LTE-Advanced speeds as high as 150 megabits per second. The smartphone will be marketed for productivity and will let users “go fast and get things done,” Bond said. The Lenovo P90 includes a 5.5-inch full HD display, 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, a 4,000-mAh battery with Quick charge, a 13-megapixel camera with OIS and Android 5.0 Lollipop with Vibe UI 2.0. The device will sell for $499 in the spring.
