Apple has released the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with the Pro Max model marking a significant leap forward in charging speed and battery capacity. The new device features the largest battery ever included in an iPhone and delivers the fastest charging performance the company has ever achieved.
Charging Speed Breakthrough
The iPhone 18 Pro Max can now reach a 50% charge in just 15 minutes, Apple announced at its launch event. Even more impressively, a 10-minute charge provides 34% battery capacity. This represents a substantial improvement over the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which reportedly achieved around 38% charge in 15 minutes.
This move positions Apple more competitively within the high-speed charging landscape, traditionally dominated by Android manufacturers. By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra reaches 51% charge in 15 minutes, although it features a smaller battery overall.
Power and Efficiency
Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is powered by Apple’s new 2nm A20 Pro chip, which the company describes as a “desktop class” processor. This chip isn’t just about raw power; it also contributes to improved energy efficiency, resulting in the best battery life yet for an iPhone. Apple achieved this increased battery capacity without altering the device’s physical dimensions, thanks to internal architectural changes.
Camera Improvements
Beyond charging and processing, the iPhone 18 Pro Max also includes a hardware-level upgrade to its primary camera sensor, introducing variable aperture support.
