Vodafone Idea (Vi), India’s third-largest telecom operator, has introduced a Rs 1005 prepaid plan offering a combination of 4G and 5G data access. The plan is positioned as a long-duration option for users needing extensive data connectivity.
Vodafone Idea Rs 1005 Plan Details
The Rs 1005 plan provides 84 days of service validity, including:
- Unlimited Voice Calling: Users can make unlimited voice calls.
- SMS: 100 SMS messages per day are included.
- Data: Unlimited 4G and 5G data is offered, though subject to a fair usage policy (FUP).
According to TelecomTalk, the 4G and 5G data is capped at 300GB for every 28-day period. While Vi advertises ‘unlimited’ data, this FUP applies to prevent network congestion. The plan is available nationwide as Vi continues to expand its 4G and 5G network coverage across India.
TelecomTalk notes that the Rs 1005 plan’s price point is higher than comparable offerings from Jio, which provides truly unlimited 5G data for the same 84-day validity at a lower cost. Vi’s higher price is likely due to the inclusion of unlimited 4G data alongside 5G access.
Vi has been actively fundraising in recent quarters to support its capital expenditure (capex) plans and network expansion. The company is reportedly seeking to raise further funds through debt and potential equity offerings to continue improving its infrastructure.
