The final weekend of September 2026 is set to bring a diverse range of new content to over-the-top (OTT) platforms. Streaming services including Amazon Prime Video, SonyLIV, and JioHotstar are all adding new movies and TV shows to their libraries.
Tamil Romance and Crime Thrillers Arrive
Leading the releases is Habeebi, a Tamil romantic drama directed by Meera Kathiravan. The film, starring Kasthoori Raja, Malavika Manoj, and Anusreya Rajan, follows a couple from a Muslim neighborhood in southern Tamil Nadu as their love story is complicated by community conflicts. Habeebi will be available on SonyLIV starting September 25, 2026, having initially premiered in theaters on June 12, 2026.
Also debuting on September 25, 2026, is Hunkkaar: The Roar, a Hindi-language crime thriller coming to JioHotstar. Directed by Nitya Mehra, Heeraz Marfatia, Karan Kapadia, and Karan D. Kapadia, the series stars Aneet Padda and Fatima Sana Shaikh and centers on a courtroom drama where a victim confronts a powerful figure accused of misconduct. This marks the first season of the series.
Familiar Faces and New Romances
Amazon Prime Video is also adding multiple titles this weekend. Don’t Be Shy!, a romantic comedy directed by Sreeti Mukerji and starring Arushi Bajaj and Ansh Duggal, will be available from September 25, 2026. The film follows a young woman who believes she has her life planned out, only to find things taking an unexpected turn.
For animation fans, Toy Story 5 is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video from September 25, 2026. The latest installment in the long-running franchise sees Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the gang navigating a world where electronic gaming is eclipsing traditional toys.
Reality TV Returns
Rounding out the new releases is Rise and Fall Season 2, a reality game show hosted by Virender Sehwag. The show, which originally proved popular with viewers, will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on September 26, 2026, with its first episode.
