Nothing Headphone (1) Pro Aims for AirPods Max Crown

Nothing has entered the high-end headphone market with the launch of the Headphone (1) Pro, a new wireless headset designed to compete with established players like Apple’s AirPods Max and Sony’s XM5. The company is positioning the Headphone (1) Pro as a premium alternative, offering a range of advanced features at a significantly lower price point.

Audio Engineering and Features

The Headphone (1) Pro employs a triple-driver system to deliver a comprehensive audio experience. This includes a 40mm dynamic driver for robust bass, paired with precision dynamic drivers and an xMEMS driver featuring a silicone diaphragm for clear treble reproduction. According to Nothing, this combination aims to provide a wider and more detailed soundstage.

Connectivity is bolstered by Bluetooth 6.1, alongside support for Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair for seamless device linking. The headset also supports Hi-Res Audio certification, and a variety of codecs including AAC, SBC, LDAC, and LC3. Dynamic Spatial Audio is also included, offering users selectable listening modes: Standard, Live House, Club, and Concert Hall, tailoring the audio profile to different environments.

Noise Cancellation and Battery Life

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is a key feature of the Headphone (1) Pro, reportedly reaching up to 46dB of noise reduction. Powering these features is a 1,060mAh battery, which Nothing states provides up to 30 hours of playback with ANC enabled, and extends to 68 hours with ANC disabled. Charging is handled via a USB-C port.

Design and Durability

The Headphone (1) Pro boasts a premium design, inspired by titanium and glass, and is built for comfort. It also features an IP52 rating, offering resistance to dust and water. The headset incorporates 10 microphones, designed to enhance voice clarity during calls, according to Nothing.

Price and Availability

The Nothing Headphone (1) Pro is priced at $399, which roughly converts to Rs 39,000 in India. However, Nothing has not yet confirmed an official India launch date or pricing. The company intends the Headphone (1) Pro to offer a premium experience at approximately half the price of the Apple AirPods Max.
