WHOOP has expanded its availability to India with the launch of the WHOOP 5.0, a screenless fitness tracker designed for continuous monitoring of health, recovery, and athletic performance. Unlike traditional smartwatches, the WHOOP 5.0 eschews a display, delivering insights exclusively through its companion app.
Pricing and Membership
The WHOOP 5.0 is available through WHOOP’s online store with two membership options. The One plan, which includes the WHOOP 5.0 device and a 12-month subscription, is priced at ₹21,990. A Peak plan is also offered at ₹28,990, adding features like Healthspan, a stress monitor, and Health Monitor. According to WHOOP, the MG model—which includes ECG and other advanced health tracking—is not currently available in India.
Core Features and Tracking
The WHOOP 5.0 is built for 24/7 wear, offering more than 14 days of battery life on a single charge. The device continuously tracks a range of physiological metrics, including:
- Heart rate
- Heart-rate variability (HRV)
- Respiratory rate
- Skin temperature
- Movement
This data is then processed to generate WHOOP’s signature Recovery, Sleep, and Strain scores, providing users with a comprehensive understanding of their body’s state and readiness for activity. The device can also be used in conjunction with WHOOP Body apparel, utilising a bicep band for optimal signal acquisition.
A Growing Market
The arrival of the WHOOP 5.0 in India follows the recent launch of Google’s Fitbit Air, which also focuses on screenless health and fitness tracking. The Fitbit Air went on sale October 2 at ₹13,999. WHOOP and Fitbit’s investment in this category signals a shift away from notification-heavy smartwatches towards devices prioritising long-term health monitoring, sleep analysis, and personalised fitness guidance.
WHOOP continues to focus on translating raw data into actionable insights, helping users optimise their recovery and performance without the distractions of a traditional smartwatch interface.
