OnePlus Shifts Focus to India with New N Series Phone

OnePlus is streamlining its global operations, with a growing emphasis on the Indian market. The company is preparing to launch a new smartphone specifically for Indian consumers, a move that comes as OnePlus scales back operations in other regions, according to recent reports.

Focus on Affordability

While the OnePlus 16 is expected to debut in China in the coming weeks, rumours and reports suggest it will not be released in India. Instead, OnePlus will introduce a new device from its N series, positioned as a more affordable option. The company has officially teased the upcoming phone, confirming its arrival, though a specific launch date has not yet been revealed. However, the launch is expected before the end of September 2026.

OnePlus N6 Lite: What to Expect

The new device, dubbed the OnePlus N6 Lite, will be the third phone in the company’s N series lineup. A dedicated microsite for the phone is already live on Amazon India, suggesting a launch is imminent. The company intends the N6 Lite to be even more affordable than the OnePlus N6x, which launched in India for Rs 18,999 for the 4GB + 64GB configuration.

While full specifications remain under wraps, it is likely the OnePlus N6 Lite will be a 4G-only device. Whether it will support 5G connectivity remains to be seen. The company’s recent cost-cutting measures reflect a period of performance challenges, making a focus on value-driven devices in key markets like India a strategic priority.
