Samsung is expanding its Galaxy S series with the introduction of the Galaxy S27 Pro, a new flagship model designed to compete directly with the Apple iPhone 18 Pro 5G. The device will join the Galaxy S27 family, which will also include the standard Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
A New Flagship Emerges
The Galaxy S27 Pro is intended to replace Samsung’s discontinued Edge series, which saw declining sales after the Galaxy S25 Edge, reports TelecomTalk. It will be positioned as a premium offering alongside the Galaxy S27 Ultra, but with key distinctions.
Display and Internal Specs
The entire Galaxy S27 lineup will benefit from upgraded display technology, featuring a new M16 OLED panel. This panel, also used in the recently launched Apple iPhone Duo, promises improved battery efficiency and enhanced colour reproduction through Colour-Filter On-Encapsulation (COE) technology. The Galaxy S27 Pro will also include a ‘Privacy Display’ feature.
Internally, the Galaxy S27 Pro will feature LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.1 storage for faster performance. Powering the device will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset in select markets, while the Indian variant will utilize Samsung’s Exynos 2700 chipset.
Battery and Key Differences
Samsung is equipping the Galaxy S27 Pro with a substantial 5,200mAh battery and support for 60W wired charging. The primary differences between the S27 Pro and the S27 Ultra will centre around screen size and functionality: the S27 Pro is expected to have a 6.7-inch display, while the S27 Ultra will boast a larger 6.9-inch display and include S Pen support.
Launch Timeline
Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S27 Pro alongside the other Galaxy S27 models in the first quarter of 2027.
