Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched an interactive 5G Network Deployment Map, allowing customers to see where the operator has reportedly launched 5G services throughout India. The map provides a visual representation of Vi’s expanding 5G network, though the company has not specified which locations were added in the latest update.
Understanding the Map
The map uses markers to indicate locations where Vi states 5G services are live. These markers are colour-coded to distinguish between deployments utilizing the 3300 MHz band and those employing both the 3300 MHz and 26 GHz bands. According to the company, this distinction highlights network deployment, rather than making broad claims about coverage across entire cities or regions.
It’s important to note, as Vi itself points out, that a marker on the map does not guarantee 5G coverage at every address in the vicinity. Actual 5G reception can be affected by factors such as distance from the network site, building materials, indoor conditions, device compatibility, and overall network load.
Rollout Progress
Vi has been progressively expanding its 5G network. During its August 2026 earnings call, the company reported that its 5G services had reached over 200 cities across 17 telecom circles, supported by more than 16,000 5G sites. Vi also stated its intention to extend coverage to more than 200 additional cities in the following two quarters. However, the map does not reflect a current total of cities or sites.
TelecomTalk has individually reported on launches and expansions in several markets, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh. The new deployment map consolidates these reported locations into a single, accessible resource.
Customers can access Vi’s 5G Network Deployment Map to check for nearby deployments, but should verify service availability on their own devices in their frequently used locations. The map serves as a guide to Vi’s reported deployments, with real-world experience remaining the ultimate measure of 5G accessibility.
