Ray-Ban Meta’s latest smart glasses, the Gen 3, have launched in the Indian market, bringing with them a series of upgrades over their predecessors. While maintaining the iconic Ray-Ban designs, the new glasses focus on enhancing the user experience through improved audio capture and integration with Meta’s AI platform.
Pricing and Variants
The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 glasses are available in India starting at Rs 44,300. Additional frame and lens combinations are priced at Rs 50,100 and Rs 46,500. For comparison, the previous generation, the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, launched in India at a starting price of Rs 39,900, representing a relatively small price increase for the Gen 3.
Key Improvements Over Gen 2
The Gen 3 glasses build upon the foundation of the Gen 2, retaining popular features while introducing several key enhancements. Battery life has been extended to up to 9 hours on a single charge – an hour longer than the Gen 2 – and the included charging case provides an additional 50 hours of power, up from 48 hours in the previous model.
Significant improvements have been made to the audio capture system. The Gen 3 features a six-microphone array, compared to the five found in the Gen 2, which Meta claims reduces background noise by up to 90%. This upgrade is designed to improve the accuracy of voice commands, especially in challenging environments like windy streets or crowded spaces.
A new, customisable action button has been added to the glasses, providing quick access to Meta AI. Meta also announced plans to enable Dolby Atmos spatial audio recording later this year, allowing users to capture immersive soundscapes.
