Reliance Jio and Canva have announced a strategic partnership aimed at expanding access to AI-powered design tools for millions of users in India. Starting September 16, 2026, eligible Jio subscribers will receive either Canva Pro or Canva Pro Lite free for a year with qualifying recharge plans.
Canva Access Tied to Jio Plans
The specific Canva offering depends on the Jio plan chosen. Users who recharge with the Rs 399 plan will receive full access to Canva Pro. Subscribers opting for the Rs 349 plan, or any 2GB-per-day plan priced above Rs 349, will gain access to Canva Pro Lite.
What Each Version Offers
Both Canva Pro and Canva Pro Lite provide access to millions of premium templates, photos, videos, and fonts, as well as features like Background Remover, Magic Resize, and print-ready CMYK exports. However, key differences exist:
- Canva Pro includes 100GB of cloud storage, supports five Brand Kits, and provides access to the full AI suite, including the Content Planner and a conversational chat-to-design capability with higher AI limits.
- Canva Pro Lite offers 50GB of cloud storage, supports three Brand Kits, and provides free-plan-level access to Canva’s advanced AI tools. Canva describes Pro Lite as providing “premium design essentials for everyday creativity.”
The partnership is valued at up to Rs 4,000, according to the companies. Canva also supports multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, to broaden accessibility.
Claiming the Offer
Eligible Jio users can claim their free Canva subscription through the MyJio app by selecting the relevant offer. Jio assures customers there are no hidden charges associated with the promotion. Kiran Thomas, President of Reliance Industries Limited, stated the initiative aims to empower millions of Indians – including students, creators, and small businesses – with AI-powered design capabilities. Canva Co-Founder and COO Cliff Obrecht added that India is a rapidly growing market for Canva, and this partnership will significantly expand its reach.
