The Google Pixel 11 5G launched recently, while the iPhone 17 is slated for release in 2025. Despite both being flagship devices targeting different segments, a key differentiator has emerged: price. In India, the base 256GB model of the iPhone 17 now costs Rs 99,900, according to recent pricing from Apple, while the Pixel 11 5G is available for Rs 89,999.
Display and Build Quality
Both smartphones feature 6.3-inch OLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3000nits. However, Apple incorporates an LTPO panel and Ceramic Shield 2 for improved scratch resistance in the iPhone 17.
Performance and Memory
The iPhone 17 is powered by the A19 chip, which is reported to be more powerful and optimised than the Google Pixel 11 5G’s Tensor G6 chipset. While the Tensor G6 is still a capable processor, Apple’s silicon holds a performance advantage. In terms of memory, the Pixel 11 5G offers configurations with 12GB of RAM, a capacity not available on the iPhone 17. Both devices offer up to 512GB of internal storage, but the Pixel 11 5G utilises faster UFS 4.x storage technology.
Cameras
The Pixel 11 5G boasts a triple-camera system comprising a 48MP primary sensor, a 10.8MP telephoto lens, and a 13MP ultra-wide lens. The iPhone 17 features a dual-camera setup with 48MP wide and ultra-wide sensors. The Pixel 11’s dedicated 5x optical telephoto lens provides greater zoom flexibility. Both phones can record 4K video at 60fps with Dolby HDR support, though some observers note iPhone video generally has better scene optimisation.
Battery, Security and Software
The Pixel 11 5G has a larger 4985mAh battery compared to the iPhone 17’s 3692mAh cell. Despite the difference in capacity, Apple’s software optimisation delivers comparable battery life. The Pixel 11 5G includes an in-screen fingerprint sensor, while the iPhone 17 relies solely on Face ID. Google has committed to seven years of OS updates for the Pixel 11 5G, while Apple has not made a similar long-term promise, though continued support is expected.
