Apple is preparing to unveil its next-generation iPhone lineup, including the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the company’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Ultra, at the ‘Surprise and Shine’ event on September 9, 2026. Ahead of this launch, the current flagship, the iPhone 17 5G, is receiving a significant price cut as retailers clear inventory.
iPhone 18: What to Expect
Speculation surrounds the iPhone 18, with anticipated improvements to the display and design. Sources suggest the new model will feature a smaller Dynamic Island, increasing the screen-to-body ratio to between 92% and 94%. The Face ID sensor is reportedly being moved under the display for a more seamless look. A new Silver colour variant is also rumoured.
Under the hood, the iPhone 18 is expected to boast the A20 chipset, built on a 2nm process using TSMC’s Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module technology – an upgrade from the A19 chipset found in the iPhone 17. The iPhone 18 will also get an upgraded modem, speculated to be a new C2 modem supporting sub-6 GHz bands, and the latest Apple N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) connectivity.
