MediaTek Helio G36 chipset with Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 5

MediaTek Helio G36 chipsetMediaTek has announced its latest Helio G36 chipset to power entry-level gaming smartphones. The chipset features eight 2.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 cores, IMG PowerVR GE8320 (680 MHz) GPU, and supports up to full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with up to 90Hz refresh rate. The Helio G36 also includes MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming technologies to provide enhanced performance while gaming.

The MediaTek Helio G36 is based on ARM v9 architecture and uses 12nm TSMC manufacturing technology. The chipset is an octa-core processor featuring eight 2.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 cores along with IMG PowerVR GE8320 (680 MHz) GPU. Further, it supports up to 8 GB (1600 MHz) LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 onboard storage. For display, the Helio G36 supports up to full-HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution with up to 90 Hz refresh rate.

In terms of camera, the MediaTek Helio G36 can support up to a 50-megapixel single sensor or two 13-megapixel dual cameras. They also support AI Beautification, AI Smart Photo Albums, Single-Cam/ Dual-Cam Bokeh, Hardware Warping Engine (EIS), Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) Engine, MEMA 3DNR, and Multi-Frame Noise reduction features. For media playback, it supports H.264/ H.265 (HEVC) 1080p video decoding at 30 frames per second (fps).

Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 5 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth version 5.0, and GPS/ GLONASS/ Beidou/ Galileo/ QZSS. For cellular, it supports Cat-4, Cat-7 DL/ Cat-13 UL, 4G carrier aggregation (CA), CDMA2000 1x/ EVDO Rev. A (SRLTE), 4G FDD/ TDD, HSPA +, TAS 2.0, HUPE, IMS (VoLTE/ ViLTE/ WoWi-Fi), eMBMS, Dual 4G VoLTE (DSDS), and Band 71.

The MediaTek Helio G36 also includes MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming technologies, such as Resource Management 2.0 and Networking Engine 2.0. Resource Management 2.0 dynamically manages CPU, GPU, and RAM to ensure sustained smartphone performance while gaming. On the other hand, Networking Engine 2.0 enables faster response and enhances connectivity to facilitate uninterrupted services.
